As the 2027 model year Yaris lineup arrives, we see Toyota Yaris in a phase of evolution. It has a successful subcompact name as they’ve integrated the 4th generation (TNGA-B platform) with what may be considered a brave new vision.
More specifically, the Yaris name has evolved across multiple continents and body designs of the vehicle. The cross has booked subcompact crossover sales at number one in Europe and the Yaris hatchback in the next generation. The 2027 model year reveals their design philosophies with both vehicles.
2027 Toyota Yaris Cross Redesign

As a B-segment SUV, the 2027 Toyota Yaris Cross also received a notable mid-cycle refresh. With over 200,000 sales in Europe, Toyota has improved the styling of the vehicle and refined the engineering to face strong competition from the Europeans and the emerging Chinese.
The Yaris Cross runs on a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. Together the Yaris Cross petrol engine and electric motor produce over 129 horse power.
The Yaris Cross’ front wheel drive engine allows the cross to get from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 10.7 seconds. The 2027 Toyota Yaris Cross is most known for its gas mileage, averaging over 4.5 Liters per 100 km, or about 63 miles per gallon. The Yaris Cross is also configurable, allowing for either standard front wheel drive or Toyota’s intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD-i) system.
Enhanced Cabin NVH and Technology

For this refresh, Toyota focused on Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) engineering to improve comfort in the cabin.
To minimize noise in the cabin, the 2027 model employs thicker side glass, an acoustic windshield, and damper mounts to quiet the thrum of heavy acceleration in the new tougher three-cylinder engine which greatly reduces highway wind noise.
The cabin tech has gotten a major overhaul. There is a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster as standard (7-inch on base models) as well as a fully digital, responsive, 9-inch or 10.5-inch central infotainment system. In a cabin refresh that leads the industry in sustainability, Toyota has introduced new biodegradable materials, the ‘SakuraTouch’ Leatherette and Samara Fabric, for the cabin, which are up to 40% plant based and recycled materials.
The 2027 GR Sport Model
2027 Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport is back for people who want to stand out more. You can only get it in FWD with the Hybrid 130 with a unique front bumper, 18-inch alloy wheels, and all sportier suspension. Inside it gets microfibre sport seats with red stitching and a Gazoo Racing badge.
Safety Features
The updated 2027 crossover and new hatchback models by Toyota showcase their new safety technology systems. This generation includes driver assistance systems that help prevent many of the most common accidents that occur in both urban and highway environments.
- Enhanced Pre-Collision System (PCS): The system can now operate at speeds of up to 180 km/h for vehicle-to-vehicle collisions. The system has also become more precise and can now detect pedestrians, and for the first time, can now detect cyclists, both in daytime and nighttime conditions.
- Turn Assistance at Intersections: This feature has been added for the first time at this level of this segment and will automatically engage the vehicle brakes whenever the driver attempts to make a turn at low speeds (from 10 to 25 km/h) into oncoming traffic and/or crossing pedestrians.
- Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control: This new system is integrated with Road Sign Assist and the driver will be prompted about a change in the speed limit. The stop and go function has been enhanced for greater control in congested traffic.
- Emergency Steering Assist: This system is designed to help the driver maintain a controlled severance of an obstacle in the roadway and protect the vehicle in a stable condition and proper alignment in its lane.
Pricing & Release Date
The 2027 Toyota Yaris Cross facelift will reach some European and global markets and start at integers nearing €28,000 to €40,000 (or approximately £27,295 to £33,130 in the UK) depending on the Icon, Lounge, Excel, or GR Sport trims.
The subcompact Yaris line, as per previous years, will have no base offerings in North America, where in spite of the competition in those segments, Toyota still will recede current range of standard offering of larger SUVs and hybrids.
