Few days back, Mercedes revealed their latest 2025 CLA with combination of electric and combustion engine. This is designed on the versatile Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform and with aim to outclass Chinese manufacturers in tech department. Let’s find out pros and cons of the 2025 Mercedes CLA.
Pros of the Mercedes CLA 2025
1. Dual Powertrain Options

One thing i personally like about 2025 CLA is that it is available in all-electric and combustion engine versions. built on Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, ensures flexibility for buyers who may not yet be ready to switch to electric vehicles due to infrastructure limitations. Lets talk about both of its powertrains:
- Electric Version: Here, we get 58 kWh and 85 kWh batteries with range of 220 miles and 370 miles.
- Combustion Engine Version: Here, we get a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, delivering power outputs between 140 and 190 horsepower for efficient performance.
2. Range & Efficiency

2025 CLA is is aerodynamically designed for lower energy consumption. It is equipped with 800-volt charging architecture which gives 300 kilometers (190 miles) of range in just 10 minutes.
3. Advanced Infotainment and Technology

The CLA 2025 has integrated Qualcomm chip along with Google and Microsoft AI, which indeed provide upgraded AI experience. Major Highlights include:
- Super Screen: A seamless combination of three screens—a 10-inch instrument cluster, a 14-inch central infotainment screen, and an optional 14-inch passenger display.
- Voice Assistance: Enhanced voice control using Gemini AI and ChatGPT for natural language interaction.
- Google Maps Integration: Provides real-time traffic data and route optimization while maintaining Mercedes’ signature interface.
4. Striking Design and Customization

The CLA 2025 is no doubt has a eye-catching design it looks sporty plus classic. Highlighted features include:
- Exterior: Features illuminated grilles, intricate LED light designs, and AMG Line options for a more aggressive look.
- Interior: Offers premium materials like leatherette and microfiber, with a variety of customization options, including matte wood and innovative paper-based trims.
5. Practical Features
The CLA includes several practical touches that enhance its usability:
- Frunk Storage: A 100-liter frunk adds extra storage space in the electric version.
- Charging Capability: Four USB-C ports with 100-watt output each allow for rapid device charging.
- Panoramic Glass Roof: Standard on all models, with optional electrochromic shading for added comfort.
Cons of the Mercedes CLA 2025
1. Limited Interior Comfort

While 2025 CLA has impressed me with exterior design i felt its interior is not what i expected.
- Tight Rear Seats: Battery pack on floor has raised floor levels making seating position awkward for rear passengers, this may be uncomfortable on long drive.
- Firm Sports Seats: Sporty seats are visually appealing but they lack plushness and depth which is very uncomfortable for taller passengers.
2. Over-Reliance on Touch Controls

Mercedes has moved away from physical buttons in favor of capacitive touch controls, which can be less intuitive while driving. For example:
- Climate Controls: While accessible in the first layer of the touchscreen, they still require more interaction compared to traditional buttons.
- Steering Wheel Controls: Capacitive sliders on the AMG Line steering wheel can be frustrating to use during active driving.
3. High Cost of Optional Features

As is common with German automakers, many desirable features are offered as optional extras, significantly increasing the price. For instance:
- Illuminated Grille: Only available as an option, adding to the cost.
- Passenger Screen: While appealing to some markets, it is an expensive add-on that may not appeal to all buyers.
4. Limited Trunk Space

The CLA’s sedan design limits its cargo capacity to 405 liters, which is relatively shallow for a vehicle in this segment. The upcoming shooting brake version will address this issue, but for now, practicality is somewhat compromised.
5. Market-Specific Limitations
Certain features and trims may not be available in all markets, frustrating potential buyers. For example, some seat materials or configurations showcased in Europe might not be offered in the US or UK.
