2027 Audi R8, flagship vehicle from Audi is going to be a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid (PHEV). According to multiple confirmed reports, engineering is actively underway with the full backing of Audi Chairman Gernot Döllner. Here’s what we know about 2027 Audi R8.
Engine of 2027 Audi R8

The all new 2027 Audi R8 is expected to be powered by twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre flat-plane crank V8 from the Lamborghini Temerario. Which means it will abandon its iconic naturally aspirated V10
The 2027 model will have 789 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque with screaming hard 10,000 rpm. It will also have three axial-flux electric motors which will improve performance to supercar heights.
You can expect this to achieve 0-60 mph in just under 3.0 seconds and a top speed nearing the Temerario’s 210 mph (338 km/h). Crucially, Autocar reports that Audi is planning to launch higher-performance Temerario variants likely to have more than 1,000 horsepower – dethroning the 912bhp RS e-tron GT.
Although it has some electric only range but it is just of mere ~6 miles (9.65 km) which is due to smaller battery of 3.8 kWh lithium-ion.
Shared Platform with Lamborghini
The third gen 2026 Audi R8 is built in partnership with Lamborghini. It will have Temerario’s all-new aluminum spaceframe chassis known for its 25% increase in torsional stiffness while using 50% fewer components than the Huracán/R8 Gen 2 structure.
You can expect both coupé and Spyder (convertible) body styles and a design evolution but it will be very different from the Lamborghini.
