2027 Ford Maverick Hybrid Changes: Specs, Trims, and New Features

Ford has streamlined the ordering guide and packaging structure for the 2027 Maverick, positioning the 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain at the center of the compact truck’s lineup.

Powertrain & Trim Realignment

2027 Ford Maverick Hybrid Changes
  • Hybrid-Exclusive Base & Top Trims: The 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle hybrid (191 hp) is now the exclusive engine option on both the entry-level XL and range-topping Lariat grades.
  • EcoBoost Consolidation: Ford has dropped the front-wheel-drive (FWD) 2.0-liter EcoBoost configuration entirely. The turbocharged engine is now restricted to all-wheel-drive (AWD) models across the XLT, off-road Tremor, and performance-oriented Lobo trims.
  • Drivetrain Choices: Maverick Hybrid buyers can continue to select between standard Front-Wheel Drive and available All-Wheel Drive.

Key Equipment & Feature Changes

  • Spare Tire Deletion on FWD Hybrids: The standard 17-inch compact spare tire (155/70 R17) has been removed from FWD hybrid models. These trims now come standard with a tire inflator and sealant kit, with a conventional full-size spare (Code 51D) relegated to an optional standalone add-on.
  • Unbundled Option Packages: The 4K Tow Package no longer requires ordering the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety bundle as a prerequisite, lowering the barrier to maxing out towing capability.
  • Lariat Packaging Shift: The Lariat Luxury Package (54P) transitions from standard equipment to an optional package on 500A/501A order codes. Similarly, the ToughBed spray-in bedliner is now a standalone option rather than standard kit.
  • Bronze Appearance Package: A new Bronze Appearance Package (59U) joins the catalog for XLT (301A) and Lariat (501A) hybrid configurations.
  • Color Palette Updates: Azure Gray, Carbonized Gray, and Space White are retired in favor of three new exterior paint options: Gladwin Green, Glacier Gray Tri-Coat, and Neptune Blue.

The standard hybrid powertrain retains its electronic continuously variable transmission (e-CVT), delivering EPA fuel efficiency estimates of up to 42 mpg city / 35 mpg highway in FWD and roughly 40 mpg city / 34 mpg highway in AWD.
