The 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country is essentially the off-road version of the regular EX30. These are the smallest SUVs in Volvo’s lineup and are fully electric. It is interesting that Volvo decided to launch this vehicle during the winter in Sweden, given that most full EVs struggle with cold temperatures. Typically, EV range drops significantly in the cold, and electronic glitches can occur with some manufacturers. However, this could be Volvo’s way of demonstrating that the EX30 Cross Country is built to handle extreme conditions.
Off-Road Capabilities

Volvo claims that the EX30 Cross Country is designed for adventure and not just as another car in their lineup. With its off-road focus, the model comes with raised ground clearance, larger wheels, and optional 18-inch all-terrain tires to handle rough landscapes.
Compared to the regular EX30, this Cross Country version features a unique front shield and a boot lid with a dark-colored, topographical design inspired by the Kabazi mountain range.
Additionally, it boasts rugged elements like skid plates and wheel arch extensions, enhancing its tough and durable appearance.
Design and Interior Features

The EX30 Cross Country maintains a clean and modern design, much like its standard counterpart. Inside, the SUV offers a versatile central tunnel that serves as both a cupholder and storage compartment. A removable, washable storage box is available for rear passengers.
As with most Volvo models, the EX30 Cross Country is equipped with Google-integrated infotainment, providing standard features like Google Maps. However, there are no physical buttons or switches for HVAC controls, as Volvo has phased them out over the past decade.
Technology and Safety Features

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country comes with an app that allows users to precondition the cabin, heating or cooling it before getting inside. Safety remains a priority, with features like braking and steering support to prevent collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.
A driver monitoring sensor helps detect if the driver is distracted or fatigued. Given its off-road nature, Volvo offers bespoke accessories such as roof baskets, mud flaps, load carriers, and the aforementioned 18-inch all-terrain tires.
Performance and Availability

The official release date has not yet been announced, but Volvo has stated that the EX30 Cross Country will be available in the U.S. later in 2025. The standard EX30 is already an impressive performer, featuring a twin-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 422 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
This setup allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, making it the quickest Volvo ever produced. Currently, only the twin-motor version is available, with a single-motor version expected for the regular EX30 in the future.
Charging and Range

The regular EX30 charges from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes using a DC fast charger, which is an average time compared to competitors. Hyundai and Genesis models can complete the same charge in about 17–18 minutes, while other EVs take 30–35 minutes.
The EX30 has an estimated all-electric range of 253 miles, but the Cross Country version will likely have a lower range due to its higher ground clearance and off-road elements. The EX30 can tow up to 2,000 lbs and is available in two trim levels: Plus and Ultra.
The Plus starts at $46,900, while the Ultra is priced at $47,900, offering additional features like a 360-degree camera with a 3D view.
