5 Pros & Cons of 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

Welcome to Dal-Motors reviews. For 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, it’s received a facelift, the first since it came out six years ago. In this analysis we’re going to talk about the best and the rest. Let’s get into it.

Technology and Practicality: What’s Lacking

Technology and Practicality: What’s Lacking

The first con we need to address is the aging technology of this vehicle. Although the 2024 model has received a facelift, it’s clear that the platform is starting to show its age. Unlike more modern competitors, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio lacks features such as phone-as-a-key functionality, ambient lighting, cooled seats, and a head-up display.

Additionally, the center screen technology feels outdated. Despite the new digital instrument cluster—which is a fantastic update—the center screen still runs old software that is notably laggy. Unfortunately, you won’t find wireless Apple CarPlay or a 360-degree camera here, which feels like a missed opportunity given the competition.

Cargo Space and Trunk

Let’s move on to cargo space. The trunk of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio opens with a powered liftgate, but the space itself measures just 18.5 cubic feet, which is on the smaller side compared to competitors. Interestingly, this is actually smaller than what you’d find in the smaller Alfa Romeo Tonale.

While the rear seats do fold down, offering a maximum cargo space of about 56.5 cubic feet, it’s still a bit tight compared to rivals like the BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC.

There are a few cubbies and grocery bag hangers, but overall, it’s not as spacious as you might hope. Two suitcases pretty much fill up the trunk, which can be a bit limiting for longer trips.

Back Seat and Interior Materials

The back seat is another area where the Stelvio Quadrifoglio falls a bit short. With the black interior and red contrast stitching, it looks sharp, but space is limited. I’m 6’1” and found that while it’s bearable, it’s on the smaller side.

The headroom is a bit tight, and although you do get some map pockets, air vents, USB-A chargers, and three levels of heated seats, the overall rear space is less generous than what you’d find in the Tonale.

As for materials, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is positioned against premium competitors like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, but it doesn’t quite match up. The leather work is good, with a nicely stitched dash and comfortable steering wheel, but the plastic components feel a bit lacking in comparison. The center console has a tendency to creak, and while the interior is above average, it doesn’t quite hit the same luxury notes as some of its rivals.

Driving Experience: Where the Fun Begins

On the flip side, driving the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is where it truly shines. The adaptive suspension and large paddle shifters for the 8-speed transmission make it a joy to drive, especially on winding mountain roads.

In D mode with the stiff damper setting, the Stelvio offers a thrilling and responsive driving experience. If you’re pushing the vehicle aggressively, it rewards you with excellent handling and grip, making it a blast to drive.

Engine and Performance: Power and Efficiency

Under the hood, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio packs a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque, delivered through an 8-speed transmission to all four wheels. With a 0-60 time of around 5.5 seconds and an impressive 24 mpg even in the challenging mountain terrain, it’s clear that the Quadrifoglio is all about performance. Whether you’re tackling sharp curves or accelerating out of corners, this SUV delivers a satisfying and powerful drive.

Exterior Design: A Unique Look

The 2024 Stelvio Quadrifoglio boasts a distinctive exterior design that sets it apart from the competition. The facelift introduces new headlights with triple beam running lights, but the overall design remains classic Alfa Romeo.

The Moonlight Silver paint, a $1,750 matte finish option, adds a unique touch that stands out without breaking the bank—especially compared to higher-priced competitors’ matte finishes.

Moving to the side, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio features 20-inch wheels finished in a dark gray or black, complemented by red-painted Brembo brakes.

The side profile showcases a sporty and dynamic silhouette, with strong shoulder lines and a muscular rear. The matte paint highlights the vehicle’s curves and contours, giving it a sleek and aggressive look.

Rear Design and Towing Capability

At the rear, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio retains its signature look with updated LED taillights and a sporty lower diffuser with dual exhausts. It’s worth noting that this SUV can tow up to 3,000 lbs, which is quite impressive and practical for various needs like trailers or boats.

My Final Thoughts

In summary, the 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio offers a thrilling driving experience and a distinctive design, but it does come with some trade-offs in terms of technology and practicality.

If you prioritize driving enjoyment and unique styling over maximum cargo space and the latest tech features, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is definitely worth considering. It’s a fun, engaging, and stylish choice in the luxury SUV segment.
