Nissan has confirmed that the 2026 Nissan Altima is not getting discontinued after last 2025 model. It was just an rumor and Nissan will provide refreshed model in 2026 focusing on a streamlined lineup and competitive pricing. Rumor was that Nissan is phasing out their sedan models to focus on SUVs and EVs but it turned out as an rumor.
Rumors and Reversal
It was mid-2024 when this rumor started many automotive news reported about potential discontinuation of Altima and keeping only the Sentra as its sedan.
But recent announcements from Nissan, including pricing and a press kit dated December 15, 2025, confirm the Altima’s continuation for at least the U.S. market.
What’s New in 2026 Nissan Altima?
2026 Nissan Altima will not have base S and top SL trim. we will only have SV and SR trims for simple to understand. New Midnight Edition package with black styling will be available in the SR trim. Don’t expect much changes in this refresh.
Powertrain and Pricing
The redesigned 2026 Nissan Altima will retain its 2.5-liter inline-four engine with CVT which we have seen delivering 188 hp and 180 lb-ft in the front-wheel drive setup. All-wheel-drive setup on the other hand provides 182 hp/178 lb-ft of torque.
Pricing is expected to start at $27,580 for SV which can go upto $30,325 for SR and top model. For AWD you have to pay extra $1,400.
