2027 GMC Sierra is an redesigned light-duty 1500 pickup built on the updated technology on the T1-2 platform. Heavy duty HD models will have minimal changes as a carryover ahead of the full refresh in 2028.

Key Specifications
The 2027 Sierra 1500 will offer rear- or four-wheel drive with 8- or 10-speed automatic transmissions. This will be produced at GM’s Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Silao, Mexico plants for light-duty models.
Sierra HD will have proven 6.6L V8 gas (L8T) and Duramax turbodiesel (L5P) engines paired to 10-speed automatics for smoother powers.
Powertrain Updates
This sixth-generation GM will have V8 leads the gasoline lineup with 10% lower emissions, built at the upgraded Flint Engine Plant. Carryover powertrain include 2.7L TurboMax I4 gasoline and 3.0L LZ0 Duramax I6 turbodiesel, also there will be a new plug-in hybrid option aligning with GM’s electrification push.
Rumors now suggest, new V8 could deliver around 450 horsepower, 490 lb-ft of torque, and over 13,000 lbs towing capacity.
Design and Capabilities
Exterior will now feature sharper lines, new LED signatures, and refined bumpers for better aerodynamics and presence. It’s spy shots reveal taller ride heights on off-road trims like AT4X this will also enhance ground clearance, and improved suspension for smoother performance on any terrain.
This cabin has large large central infotainment screen, 12-inch digital gauge cluster along with hicker steering wheel, and GM’s Ultify software platform for modern tech friendly features.
Trims and Pricing
Expected trims for the 2027 GMC Sierra includes luxury Denali Ultimate and off-road AT4X and premium SLT/Elevation. It’s pricing is expected to start at $40,000 for the 1500 base while top model can cost upto $55,000 to $60,000. Dealers can expect this from fall 2026 availability following H2 2026 production start for 1500 models.
