A New Level of Engine Power

A New Level of Engine Power
A New Level of Engine Power

The RSV4 and RSV4 Factory models are equipped with V4 engines that deliver 220 horsepower at 13,100 RPM and a torque of 125 Newton meters at 10,800 RPM. This makes them the most powerful production super bikes globally. Aprilia’s relentless commitment to performance upgrades ensures that these bikes stand out, offering unparalleled power and precision.

While the engine itself isn’t entirely new, the upgrades to it push the boundaries of what was previously thought possible in a production bike. For reference, the Tuono V4 models now offer 180 horsepower at 11,800 RPM, with a torque output of 121 Newton meters at 9,600 RPM. Even though the Tuono V4 is traditionally seen as a “hyper naked” bike, it’s not holding back when it comes to power. With 175 horsepower previously considered more than sufficient, this new iteration ensures that no performance is compromised.

Aerodynamic Advancements: MotoGP-Inspired Winglets

One of the standout features across all four models is the inclusion of aerodynamic winglets, inspired by MotoGP technology. Developed through extensive wind tunnel testing, these winglets serve both aesthetic and performance purposes. Ailia claims that these winglets have significantly enhanced the bikes’ aerodynamics, reducing the aerodynamic drag coefficient by 6% and decreasing the tendency to wheelie at high speeds by 8%. While the average rider might not feel these changes as drastically, the performance difference will undoubtedly be noticeable to more experienced riders, particularly on the track.

The Tuono V4 models also feature winglets, which add 2.5 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, emphasizing that these bikes are engineered for high-speed stability and aggressive performance. The fairings on both the RSV4 and Tuono V4 have also been redesigned to be more aerodynamic, with integrated tail lights that double as turn signals, making these models even more track-friendly. The new tail lights, along with a removable license plate holder, allow riders to streamline their bikes for track use by easily removing the indicators and tail lights.

High-Tech Electronics and In-App Purchases

Aprilia has also made a significant leap in terms of electronics. For the first time, the RSV4 and Tuono V4 models feature in-app purchases for additional features. This innovative move allows owners to buy specific updates, such as better traction control, directly from their phone. This feature could be particularly handy if a rider suddenly finds themselves in changing weather conditions. It’s a fascinating concept that provides instant customization for riders who want to optimize their bike for the moment.

All four models come with a comprehensive APAC Electronics package, which includes:

  • ATC (Ailia Traction Control): Adjusts traction control to match the rider’s behavior.
  • AWC (Ailia Wheelie Control): Reduces unwanted wheelies, even during aggressive acceleration.
  • AQS (Ailia Quick Shifter): Allows upshifts with the throttle closed and downshifts with the throttle open, which ensures smooth and unrestricted shifting.

Moreover, Ailia Engine Map A3 and Ailia Engine Brake (AEB), adjustable in three levels, are included across all models, ensuring that riders can fine-tune their bike’s engine dynamics to their preference.

The RSV4 Factory and Tuono V4 Factory models go a step further with advanced features such as the Aprilia Track Pack. This includes a race dashboard, launch control, pit limiter, and slide control (which can be adjusted in three levels). These models are clearly tailored for riders who prioritize track performance.

Additionally, the Aprilia Comfort Pack, which comes standard on the Factory models, includes cruise control and cornering lights that illuminate as you turn into a corner. For track enthusiasts, the Race Pack includes a GPS module to optimize track performance based on pre-loaded circuit layouts and the semi-active Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension system.

Performance and Engine Displacement

Another exciting update is the increase in engine displacement. The Tuono V4’s displacement has been increased from 1,177 cc to 1,999 cc, a change that not only provides more power but also ensures that these engines meet Euro 5 Plus standards for cleaner emissions. The balance between increased power and cleaner emissions is something that Aprilia has achieved remarkably, making these V4 models not just powerful but environmentally compliant.

Color Options and Aesthetics

The RSV4 Standard model will be available in yellow or gray with yellow accents, and red wheels, adding a bold, sporty look. There’s also the Stingray blue option with red details. The RSV4 Factory will only be offered in Dark Kraken, a sleek black with red accents.

The Tuono V4 models follow a similar aesthetic scheme, with the Factory version also in Dark Kraken, while the standard Tuono V4 will come in Shark Gray. There’s also a bright Poison Yellow version, which is likely to feature dark gray with yellow accents and red wheels, reminiscent of the RSV4’s color scheme.

Display and Features

Both models now come with a new five-inch TFT display, offering improved graphics and an intuitive interface for adjusting riding modes and viewing performance data. Aprilia has also updated the bike’s lighting and tail design for improved aerodynamics, with removable tail lights for track use.

Price and Availability

The 2025 RSV4 starts at $19,100, with the higher-spec RSV4 Factory priced at $26,099. The Tuono V4 has a more accessible base model, with the Tuono V4 Factory commanding a premium due to additional features and electronics.

The Verdict: Power, Technology, and Style

In summary, Aprilia has significantly upgraded its flagship models with more power, enhanced electronics, and a sharper focus on aerodynamics. The RSV4 and Tuono V4 are no longer just superbikes—they’re state-of-the-art machines that push the boundaries of what’s possible on two wheels. With increased engine power, advanced electronics, and track-ready features, these bikes are designed to offer the ultimate riding experience.

The addition of in-app purchases, advanced suspension systems, and the ability to fine-tune electronics puts these bikes at the forefront of the industry. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or an enthusiastic road rider, these models cater to all levels of performance needs.
