No one can fill the current offering with 8′ sheets of Plywood, 8′ Concrete forms, huge coils of Hydraulic Hoses with fittings, or even 8′ drilling bits, etc. and still close the tailgate. And, 4′ Hay Bales times eight to twelve.

6.5ft+1.5ft=8ft. Any guesses how tall the tailgate is? You got it, 1.5ft! Then add either A) Quick Connect tailgate extender, or B.) A ratchet strap of your choice. Either will suffice! And there’s your 8ft bed bud!

Probably follow the same route as the CAT Class 8 road tractor, it went nowhere. Looks like CAT is wasting money on some pet project. Affordability probably not built into this. CAT should stay focused on construction equipment .

I agree with Frank. Where is the 8′ bed option.? I personally think 8′ should be the standard bed size with the smaller beds being an option. Again, agreeing with Frank, I have a 7.3 liter diesel in my F-350. I’m also over 300,000 miles. Sadly the body will fall off before the drive train dies. The Cat is a nice truck, don’t get me wrong. Just not $100,000 + nice after taxes.
It’s certainly going to get a lot of people like myself to think about it……my new Silverado Z71 RST Balck Widow package was pushing $ 92K…..I opted for the 5.3L . instead of the 6.2L …..I like that CAT has the front winch installed already…..the payload is nice also.

8′ bed should be an option. I have a 2500 Megacab and I can’t tell you how many times I wished it was 8′. Also what about the electronics? Are they doing like most of the others recording everything you do, sending speed info to your insurance co., shutting down when someone with power wants you stuck out in the middle of nowhere?

Bringing a new vehicle from the US to Canada is about $1,000 worth of paperwork. No problems. Plus tax at the border. Two things to watch out for – get the US dealer to take off the warranty cost and buy a third party warranty for Canada. Second make sure you buy in a state with no tax or a easy tax rebate for out of state purchasers. Getting financing is more difficult because bank people have not done it before as everything is simply data input to a computer for approval.
