2026 Subaru Solterra is the Subaru’s latest unveiling, what came to me as a surprising is it has major unexpected upgrades. In following article we will discuss it’s new motors, a bigger battery and major structural improvements.

2026 Subaru Solterra Exterior Design
First thing that i noticed in 2026 Subaru Solterra is all ne redesigned front end. With this Subaru has given up on their traditional look to make it look completely new and fresh design.
2026 Subaru Solterra has illuminated Subaru logo with black crossbar across the front which gives it an modern front look. Along with that there is six-module LED daytime running lights (DRLs) make it look more modern and aesthetic.
I am also impressed with new ultra-slim LED projector headlights with the smallest headlight washers ever seen. Also, Subaru has updated it’s parking sensors.
From the side, Subaru has made lot’s of changes including reduction in plastic body cladding. The one i watched was a white color model whose cladding painted in white but other colors like black can features different cladding.
Another change is that main EV charging port is now moved to passenger side and support J3400 connector and native Tesla Supercharger access.
New Motors, Bigger Battery, and Improved Performance
Subaru made serious mechanical changes on existing motors too:
- New 80.5 kWh battery offering an estimated 300 miles of range.
- Two power levels:
- Standard model: ~233 horsepower.
- New XT trim: over 330 horsepower.
All New powertrain structural changes improves noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), along with better ride quality and handling.
However, i am disappointed with unavailability of frunk also known as front trunk. this may be because of critical components like the AC/DC converter and 12V battery are still housed up front.
2026 Subaru Solterra Interior Design
Starting with steering wheel it is manual tilt and telescopic with eccentric instrument cluster placement positioned above the wheel. I like it, very simple yet look modern.
New seats now support two-way lumbar support and two-position memory settings, what else you want for your comfortable rides.
Stadium-style seating for the rear passengers create sufficient legroom and enough head space even for taller persons. Most noticeable upgrade interior is removal of crossbar from the panoramic moonroof, i personally find it now more fresh and spacious. Also, powered sunshade is provided to block heavy sunlight.
Subaru has refreshed the dashboard, which now features 14-inch infotainment screen. i feel this is an largest ever screen from Subaru.
Charging, Price and Availability
2026 Subaru Solterra features faster DC charging as it support native access to Tesla supercharger network. When will hit dealership? as per various reports it’s going to be released in late summer of 2025.
Pricing is also not announced yet by Subaru, i don’t believe there will be significant price hike than current model. However, it’s better to stay tuned until official announcement instead making speciulations.
