Ram’s 2019 launch of the Limited trim level marked a significant milestone, but for 2025, they’ve upped the ante yet again. The Limited is no longer the top trim, nor the second highest—it’s now the third. Recently, our editorial team had the opportunity to test drive a borrowed 2025 RAM 1500 Limited HO Hurricane.
Let’s dive into the details of this exciting new model and explore what makes the 2025 RAM 1500 Limited HO Hurricane stand out.
Vehicle Overview
Starting with the basics, the 2025 RAM 1500 Limited comes standard with four-wheel drive and a short bed. The base price is set at $75,500. With options like diamond black paint for $245 and the trailer brake, the total price, including the $1,995 destination fee, comes to $77,604. Be sure to check out the fuel economy numbers as well.

Front End and Exterior Features
For those new to my channel, I’m planning some MPG runs comparing the high output to the standard output. This truck features high output, and I’m eager to put it up against a Laramie for 2025, which I believe could be a better buy. Despite this being a higher trim level, RAM has stayed true to the design of the Limited. The 2024 model’s thinner style headlights with projectors carry over, along with dual projectors, LED accent lights, and reflective LED fog lights. The parking sensors are cleanly integrated into the plastic trim, avoiding the chrome or painted parts, which looks much cleaner. Up front, recovery hooks and additional sensors maintain the rugged yet polished look.

Suspension and Tires
At an $80,000 price point, the 360 camera system is an optional extra. The Limited’s suspension includes standard air suspension with an aluminum dual wishbone setup. Interestingly, the steering knuckle appears to be forged aluminum, but with plastic liners. The Limited trim features Bridgestone Dueler tires (275/55R20) which are a significant upgrade from the lower trims’ Nexans.
Side Features
The SST H badge signifies a straight 6 Turbo high output. Standard fender flares enhance the robust look, while new wheels and a slightly revised front end differentiate it from the 2024 model. The side mirrors include signal lights and possibly a camera.
The smart key system is limited to the front doors. The black power running boards, devoid of chrome, add to the sleek design.

Fuel Tank and Ram Boxes
A 33-gallon fuel tank comes standard on the 2025 Limited. You’ll need 91+ octane fuel, with 93 octane suitable in other states. Notably, the Ram boxes are standard, providing additional lighting, 400 watts of power, and dividers. They can be deleted if desired, but they’re not available with the longer bed. Full LED tail lights, restyled bumpers, and the newly spelled-out “Ram” badge enhance the rear. A power tailgate, matching Ford’s standard from Lariat up, is another new feature.
Bed and Tailgate Features
While the Ram boxes reduce bed width, the included tie downs and power sliding glass add convenience. The high output Hurricane engine upgrade includes a 392 rear axle, offering better durability and efficiency. The off-road package, with a locker and matching spare tire, is another noteworthy option. Dual exhaust, 4 and 7-pin trailer connectors, and a class 4 hitch round out the rear features.

High Output Engine
The 3L inline-6 twin-turbo high output Hurricane engine is truly remarkable, boasting 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. That’s a 140 horsepower increase over Ford’s EcoBoost. Each turbocharger feeds three cylinders, and the 9.5:1 compression ratio necessitates 91+ octane fuel. This engine is part of the new Hurricane engine family, known for enhanced fuel economy and reduced emissions while delivering big-engine power.
Fuel Injection System
Unlike Ford and Toyota’s twin-turbo six-cylinders with both direct and port fuel injection, the Hurricane engine uses only direct injection. However, Stellantis positioned the fuel injectors centrally, potentially spraying the intake and exhaust valves to reduce buildup.
Engine Build and Cooling
The engine features a deep skirt cast aluminum block, cross-bolted steel main bearings, aluminum heads, and block, although a compacted graphite iron block would be preferred. Forged and twisted steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, and forged aluminum alloy pistons with DLC-coated piston pins ensure durability. Engine cooling is managed by water-to-air charge coolers, dual water-cooled exhaust manifolds, and a high-flow ball valve thermostat.
Under the Hood
Under the hood, insulation on both sides of the engine bay is a notable feature, although it can get wet during a car wash. The 8HP 75 8-speed transmission and transfer case are visible, along with the exhaust manifolds which curve out and back straight.
Interior Features and Design
RAM has led the industry in interior design since 2019, with top-notch fit and finish, real leather, and wood trim. Despite online criticism, the interiors hold up well even with high mileage. The gray stitching, soft-touch leather, and Harman Kardon sound system create a luxurious feel. However, the lack of a power steering column is a minor drawback.
Seat and Dash Design
For 2025, fabric material has been added to the leather seats, which include 12-way adjustment with lumbar support. The dash and grab handles are leather-wrapped, but the wood trim has been removed in recent years. A push-button start and 12-inch display are standard.
Steering and Controls
The adaptive cruise control system includes active driving assist, though not hands-free yet. Drive modes include snow, tow, sport, off-road, and automatic, but there’s no eco mode.
Roof and Lighting Controls
The roof features a black liner with an available twin-panel moon roof. Interior controls include LED lighting and power sliding glass. The power tailgate can be controlled from inside the truck. Home link and other controls are also available.
Center Console and Storage
RAM’s infotainment system is top-notch, though the Limited’s 14-inch screen should be standard at this price point. Dual wireless chargers and ample storage are highlights, with a well-organized center console.
Passenger Screen and Features
The passenger screen is a unique feature that can display cameras, HDMI input for devices, and full-screen navigation. This is a tech enthusiast’s dream, providing entertainment and functionality.
Rear Seat Features
The second row offers a true flat floor surface, lower than competitors, with collapsible storage and reclining seats. Heated and ventilated rear seats, multiple USB ports, and power plugs ensure comfort and convenience.
Payload and Final Thoughts
The payload capacity is 1,331 lbs, but the Tungsten trim, with bigger seats and more features, will likely have less. Adding options like the off-road package or 22-inch wheels reduces payload further. However, the overall design, fit, and finish are superb.
The 2025 RAM 1500 Limited HO Hurricane is packed with features and innovations. If you’re in the market for a top-tier truck, this model is worth considering.
