The 2027 Hyundai Tucson has always been the global contender in the compact crossover game. For a while now, lots of the Tucson’s designs, particularly the “Parametric Jewel Grille” and the “Sensuous Sportiness” inspired rounded curves, have dominated.
From the latest spy photos and information, the Tucson’s next generation is already looking to take a drastic turn. The 5th Generation Tucson will not possess the smoothness of previous generations.

Exterior Design
Hyundai Tucson’s 2027 model year features Tucson’s new “Art of Steel” styling. making in look similar silhouettes to the new Santa Fe and Palisade crossover models, Tucson’s new design doesn’t skimp on board stiffness and structure.
- The Stance: Tucson now has a flatter, more commanding front end and a stiffened body with wide-set, evenly squared wheel housing, ditching the soft lines and taking on a more aggressive stance.
- The Fascia: Tucson 2027 has further eliminated the “angel wing” design of the previous iteration, featuring stacked LEDs for turn signals with headlamp pods residing on the lower fascia.
- Premium Accents: Tucson’s 2027 model introduces a new seamlessly integrated “Clamshell” hood with front fenders and door borders along the body. New vertical orientation of tailgate design with integrated LEDs for a clean and modern look with an integrated bumper housing for a recessed plate.
Engine & Performance
Hyundai’s future direction is amplifying eco-friendliness, spearheaded by the Tucson, which is the manufacturer’s first core hybrid model. As of now, diesel models are expected to be detoured permanently. Plug-in Hybrids (PHEVs) are expected to provide an electric range great enough to meet daily needs.
In the case of the Tucson, it has an estimated electric range of 100 kilometers (62 miles) and an expected total driving range off of electricity and a full tank of gas of 1,000 kilometers. If you would like practicality with your performance, a Tucson N PHEV (N being the performance and enthusiast line) is expected to satisfy.
For buyers looking for a more conventional experience, traditional fuel models and core hybrid models will also return to the lineup. These models will feature improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and newly designed 8-speed automatic transmission systems.
Safety, Autonomy, and Release Date
The 2027 Tucson is getting an update with its Level 2.5 Autonomous Driving features. Complete with an advanced Driver monitoring system located at the top of the steering column, the suite will include improved lane centering, evasive steering for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as a more sophisticated adaptive cruise control.
The fifth-generation of the Hyundai Tucson is expected to make its official global debut in the late 2026 with international sales to follow soon after. Several changes in the standard tech offerings for the Tucson, including some enhanced powertrain efficiency, are expected to cause a small price increase. This is great news for the compact SUV market as more leads to increased competition.
