There’s a fresh flagship-level Volvo heading to dealer showrooms in the very near future. 2026 Volvo ES90 has arrived with exterior and design updates.
Unique Exterior Design Approach
Volvo’s 2026 ES90 Sedan has design elements from polestar lineup. if you check its dimension its slightly taller than any sedan design available in the market. i saw lots of comments on our youtube video that many people saying the design is inspired by Volvo’s S90 sedan but i strongly disagree.
It features Thor’s hammer LED headlights which is Volvo’s signature styling, coupe like roof and jacked design. since there is no front grill the LiDar sensor has placed on the top of roof for driver assistance system. I am impressed with the C shaped tail-lights they just look perfect along with strips running on window sides.
Why the Design Choice? Blame the Batteries
The jacked coupe style saloon design of 2026 Volvo ES90 has impressed our team and also gathered positive reactions from internet. I like how battery pack placed to offer large comfortable space in cabin. the details about battery structure and placement are yet to be unveiled but overall Volvo has done great job here.
Dimensions & Ground Clearance
The 2026 Volvo ES90 have larger wheels of 20 to 22 inches which looks great but affect vehicles range. It measures around 5 meters in length and looks more of a crossover sedan than traditional look of sedan.
Luxurious Interior of 2026 Volvo ES90
When you enter 2026 Volvo ES90 first thing you will notice is that it is an well structured minimalist design. 14 inch portrait screen is the first thing that attract your eyes. I must say Volvo has given premium material, excellent fit and finish to this model.
I personally do not like touchscreen based dashboards but many tech enthusiast may like it. there are no physical buttons in 2026 Volvo ES90. bright wood finish to storage slide feels premium too.
Dual tone steering looks great along with high quality physical buttons placed on both sides. Bright wood decor to rear door along with backlights also feels good. Best part of interior is how comfortable the seats are both in front and back.
The only problem is that the due to EV platform our leg do not get thigh support because of battery. if you seat at middle you do feel little harder on back so i recommend this car as a 4 seater only. hand rest at back also good and it do provide comfort at back. Both rear seat has heating and cooling along with ventilated seats which i feel great electric feature.
Cockpit and Dashboard Features
The dashboard is covered in high-grade leatherette with dampening materials for a premium feel. The infotainment system features a large, vertical touchscreen running Google Maps natively, ensuring accurate real-time navigation and charging stop calculations.
Google Maps integration allows for precise route planning, including optimized charging stops. For instance, a trip from Gothenburg to Stockholm would require just two stops, totaling 33 minutes of charging time.
What Motors do 2026 Volvo ES90 Offers?
2026 Volvo ES90 do come with three different motors presenting great options for their customers. Three motors are:
Single Motor (RWD)
- 329 hp / 354 lb-ft
- 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds
Twin Motor (AWD)
- 442 hp / 494 lb-ft
- 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds
Twin Motor Performance (AWD)
- 670 hp / 635 lb-ft
- 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds
Battery & Range
We get AWD & RWD options both has there own pros and cons, The AWD version is claimed to accelerate faster than RWD version. Their 0-60 acceleration specs are:
- AWD – 5.5 Seconds
- RWD – 6.9 Seconds
Battery options include:
- Small battery: 88 kWh (net), paired with the rear-wheel-drive variant.
- Large battery: 102 kWh (net), available with all-wheel drive.
Impressive part is that both batteries has DC Fast charging , features 800-volt architecture facilitating 10-80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Lets talk about its estimated range, as per our analysis with large battery pack it can run up to 500KM (300 Miles). However i feel Volvo should have provided improved range to compete against EVs like Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model S, Mercedes EQS, and VW ID.7. This could become a major problem in countries like Germany, where high-speed highway driving is common.
Packed with Advanced Safety Tech
Being a Volvo flagship, the ES90 is packed with all major safety features. The vehicle is equipped with:
- Five radar sensors
- Multiple cameras
- 12 ultrasonic sensors
- A LiDAR system (mounted on the roof)
While all of these tech safety features looks good one should keep in mind that these are very expensive to repair of replace. Also what i am hearing is that the there may be monthly charges like subscription to use many safety features.
Expected Pricing
As of 7nth March 2025 we do not have have any official pricing list but based on models like EX90 we can have little idea how it will be priced. what we are guessing is that it is $70,000 could be a staring base model price which can go up to $90,000 for its top level trim.
I get that this is a hefty price tag and might wonder Polestar 2 better than this but let me tell you that 2026 Volvo ES90 is much more luxurious and on top of that it features Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
