2025 Subaru Impreza: Redesign, Price and Interior You Need to Know

What if we told you there’s a compact car out there that’s affordable, packed with features, and has a fresh redesign? Intrigued? You should be. Welcome to the world of the 2025 Subaru Impreza. This hatchback isn’t just another car on the lot—it’s a blend of practicality, tech-savvy features, and Subaru’s signature all-wheel drive. If you’ve been eyeing a new ride, this one should definitely be on your radar. Stick around as we dive into what makes the 2025 Impreza stand out.

The 2025 Subaru Impreza is a compact hatchback that has long been known for its affordability. With a recent redesign, it now boasts updated styling both inside and out. Subaru has also packed it with new tech and more standard features. Interestingly, Subaru decided to drop the sedan version from the lineup, leaving only the hatchback available. While some might miss the sedan, the increased utility of the hatchback makes it a smarter choice for many drivers.

The major updates of 2024 carried over, so extensive changes for the 2025 model are not expected. While the Impreza’s latest iteration doesn’t look drastically different from its predecessors, notable upgrades have been added.

These include an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Additionally, the chassis is now stiffer, improving handling, and driver aids like adaptive cruise control have been fine-tuned. For those craving more power, the sporty RS trim offers a beefier engine, addressing the sluggish acceleration of the base model.

Rivals for 2025 Subaru Impreza in the Hatchback Market

In today’s market, hatchbacks are becoming increasingly rare, but the remaining models are fierce competitors for the Impreza. The Honda Civic Hatchback, revamped just a few years ago, shines in nearly every way, offering exceptional comfort, tech, and utility. However, it lacks the all-wheel-drive option, giving the Impreza a distinct advantage. Other strong contenders include the Mazda 3, Mini Cooper, and Toyota Corolla.

For drivers who love the Impreza but desire more capability or style, the Subaru Crosstrek is a great alternative. Essentially an Impreza with extra ground clearance, it offers a more rugged option for those who need it.

Performance: Handling and Acceleration

So, how does the 2025 Subaru Impreza perform? We had the opportunity to test the RS trim, which features a more powerful engine. However, the results were a bit disappointing. Our test vehicle recorded a 0-60 mph time of 8.4 seconds, lagging behind competitors like the Honda Civic and Mazda 3 hatchbacks. Expect even slower speeds in the base model.

Additionally, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) can feel sluggish when you need a quick burst of speed for highway merging or passing. On winding roads, the Impreza changes direction smoothly with minimal body roll. The light steering also makes parking a breeze. However, if you’re seeking a sportier driving experience, you may want to consider other hatchbacks.

2025 Subaru Impreza Comfort: A Cozy Ride

One area where the Impreza truly shines is comfort. The front seats are plush and supportive, and while the rear bench is a bit flat, it remains comfortable for passengers. Our RS trim model came with heated front seats, which were highly effective and can even be set to turn on automatically when the car starts.

The ride quality is smooth, with the suspension easily absorbing bumps in the road, and the cabin stays quiet most of the time. However, the engine does become quite loud at full throttle. Every Impreza comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, which is a great feature, though we found it tends to run a bit warm. One downside is the lack of rear passenger air vents, which is a slight disappointment.

2025 Subaru Impreza Interior

The Impreza hatchback offers one of the roomiest interiors in its class, with ample headroom and legroom, especially in the rear seats. Taller passengers will appreciate the space, and there’s plenty of room up front for the driver and passengers alike. The low hood and tall windows enhance visibility, and the wide-opening doors make it easy to get in and out.

Our test model featured an 11.6-inch vertically mounted infotainment screen that controls everything from navigation to climate settings. While the screen’s resolution could be better, it’s large, responsive, and offers ample space for the rearview camera display.

2025 Subaru Impreza Technology

The 2025 Subaru Impreza comes equipped with impressive tech options. The base model offers dual 7-inch displays, while the Sport and RS trims feature a sleek 11.6-inch screen. The larger display is more user-friendly, with ample space for navigation, maps, music, and more. Subaru also provides standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both with wireless connectivity.

Depending on the trim, you’ll find USB-A and USB-C ports, an auxiliary jack, and even a wireless charging pad. The Impreza also comes with a solid suite of driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, which adjusts speed smoothly and maintains safe gaps between vehicles.

2025 Subaru Impreza Storage and Cargo Space

The Impreza hatchback offers 20.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up, expanding to 56 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. While it may not be as spacious as the Honda Civic Hatchback, it surpasses competitors like the Mazda 3 and Mini Cooper.

Although the rear seats don’t fold completely flat, there is still plenty of room for storage. Additionally, the Impreza includes extra storage under the hatch floor, while the door pockets and center console provide space for essentials like your phone and sunglasses. The rear is spacious enough for child safety seats, with easy-to-access anchors and wide-opening doors that make buckling in a breeze.

Fuel Economy: Competitive but Not Class-Leading

The Subaru Impreza with its base engine delivers an EPA-estimated 30 MPG combined for city and highway driving. Our RS test model saw a minor dip to 29 MPG combined, which is slightly less efficient than the Honda Civic and most versions of the Mazda 3. On our mixed mileage test route, we recorded 28.4 MPG—lower than expected, especially given the highway driving involved.

Is the 2025 Subaru Impreza a Good Value?

Absolutely. The Impreza hatchback stands out as one of the more affordable options in its class, with a lower base price than many competitors. Subaru doesn’t cut corners on features, offering standard all-wheel drive, a solid list of driver aids, and plenty of tech. The Impreza also doesn’t see a huge price hike when adding options, unlike Honda and Mazda.

However, it’s worth noting that the Impreza lacks some of the polish found in its rivals. The interior features more hard plastics and feels less refined. Subaru’s warranties are average for the class, offering decent coverage but nothing extraordinary.

Subarus have never been known for their flashy designs, and the 2025 Impreza sticks to that theme. While it looks fresh, it doesn’t stray far from previous models. Compared to other small hatchbacks, it lacks a premium vibe, and even the sportier RS trim could improve in terms of handling and driver engagement.

Conclusion: Should You Buy the 2025 Subaru Impreza?

So, is the 2025 Subaru Impreza worth the hype? If you’re looking for an affordable, feature-packed compact car with standard all-wheel drive, the Impreza is a great option. While it may not deliver the most thrilling performance or the most luxurious interior, it excels in practicality, tech, and comfort.

If you’re considering the Impreza, we recommend going for the RS trim. It’s the priciest option, but it comes with a more powerful engine, heated front seats, and a sportier look. Still, if you’re after a sportier driving experience, other hatchbacks like the Honda Civic or Mazda 3 may be more to your liking.
