When Ford showed us the 2027 Super Duty lineup, it was clear that this was unlike any other reveal. While other car companies reveal new trucks and make a big deal about the look and cosmetic changes to the body, Ford focuses on the guts of the trucks and the engine. Ford has made the engines simpler and the off-road capabilities more aggressive and therefore more available. Off-road capabilities come standard on base models. I think this is Ford catering toward the truck buyers who use their trucks for work and not as a statement. Let’s go through the changes for the 2027 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty.

Powertrain Changes
Let me tell you why 2027 is Ford’s biggest news yet. The first thing I’d say is the Ford Super Duty trucks entry-level powertrains are gone. Ford is the first to make such a bold move to drop base V-8s and turbos. Here’s what more is going to happen:
- The 6.8L gas V-8s are gone.
- The S/O 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel are gone.
So if these powertrains are gone that means Ford is going to offer Super Duty trucks with only two diesel and gas monster engines.
What I noticed about the transmission: The 7.3L Godzilla V8 will utilize the lighter 10-speed TorqShift-G automatic transmission exclusively on F-250 models (provided they aren’t equipped with the Tremor package), while all other configurations upgrade to the heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift transmission.
While this ensures every 2027 Super Duty leaves the factory with massive baseline muscle, I personally think it will almost certainly drive up the starting base price across the board, as the 7.3L gas engine and H/O diesel previously carried hefty optional upcharges.
| Engine | Horsepower | Torque |
|---|---|---|
| 7.3L “Godzilla” Gas V8 | 430 hp | 485 lb-ft |
| 6.7L High-Output (H/O) Power Stroke Turbo-Diesel V8 | 500 hp | 1,200 lb-ft |
New XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package
Thanks to the incredibly successful 33-inch off-road package, Ford has implemented a two-tier off-road strategy for base XL trims. I’ve been wanting to see a package like this. The new 35-Inch Tire Package effectively transforms a standard work truck into a trail-ready beast, at the cost of luxury extras:
- – 35-inch tires for off-roading, which are mounted on 18-inch Sparkle Silver painted aluminum wheels.
- – Improved factory lift height and lift performance shocks.
Tremor Trim Expansion
If you are like me and love the Tremor® Off-Road Package, you are in luck, as the package now has more availability:
- Tremor® Package Available on XL Packages: For the first time, XL Packages can purchase the Tremor® package now. However, you have to also buy the STX Appearance Package and the XL Driver Assistance Package.
- The “Big & Tall” Tremor®: If you have been wanting to purchase this package, you are in luck. By popular demand, the Tremor® package can be purchased on the 176-inch platform on the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims with the Crew Cab and an 8-foot long bed. This also now gives you a 48-gallon fuel tank while giving great factory off-road capability and carrying capacity! You won’t be disappointed.
Notable Tweaks & The “Carhartt” Special Edition
Whether you’re an F-Series enthusiast, work in the trades, or just appreciate attentive engineering, there are things for most people to be excited about in the 2027 F-Series model release:
- The Carhartt Edition: If you live in the trades, this special edition is designed for the trades and only available on the XLT SuperCrew 4×4 with single rear wheels (SRW).
- Digital Rearview Mirrors: If you haul huge stuff, then make sure you opt in for the digital rear view mirror. It’s included as standard on the F-250 through to the F-450.
- Fleet Cap: As a benefit for staying in one lane, fleet buyers can now order trucks with a fuel saving factory speed lock at either 65mph or 75mph (120km/h).
- Neat: Avalanche and Argon Blue Metallic paint colors are gone. In my opinion, Iconic Silver Metallic and Neptune Blue are an improvement.
- Gaseous Prep Standard: The 7.3L Godzilla V8 comes with the CNG/Propane gaseous engine prep package as standard. This makes alternate fuel conversions easier to do.
