The 2027 Range Rover SV is an Ultra luxury model with pure SUV experience over the pure minimalist approach preferred by the competition. It’s almost shocking how far Land Rover has come by getting rid of small features and actually getting input from consumers on what they want in the SV models and actually giving it to them.
For Land Rover, it’s almost a luxury SUV that has a large tactile experience over the minimalist designs that other brands have become comfortable with.

Practical interior of 2027 Range Rover SV
When JLR migrated all the core cabin functions into the central Pivi Pro touchscreen a while back, I felt it went a bit too far. Clean dashboards are great, but losing physical controls for everyday adjustments was incredibly frustrating.
That’s why I’m personally thrilled with the 2027 center console redesign. They’ve brought back a physical, tactile volume knob and a dedicated Terrain Response rotary dial. What I appreciate most is that they didn’t just slap cheap plastic back in.
They used the SV’s signature cool-to-the-touch gloss white ceramic, and I think it perfectly bridges the gap between high-tech utility and old-school mechanical luxury.
SV Trim Levels
Above the standard SV and SV Black trims there is a new flagship: the 2027 Range Rover SV Ultra. Honestly, I find the buying process to be interesting, as you cannot simply walk into a dealership or open a configurator to acquire one. It is only available by invite from Range Rover.
Aesthetic Design
The SV Ultra offers ideal understated elegance. Titan Silver is one of the new paint finishes and is breathtaking! With their new paint booths and a major upgrade in the formula, suspended aluminum flakes are now used in a micro-size which JLR claims creates a “liquid-metal” effect. It’s hard to see this hatch shifting in various angles with ambient light.
Pairing this with Satin Platinum Atlas, and bigger 23-inch alloy wheels, JLR is offering high level luxury.
Next Gen Tech
The best part for me was the “SV Electrostatic Sound system”. I researched it, and it’s super cool what they did.
- Thin-Film Transducers: Sound used to come from speakers and headrest cones (which were bulky and heavy).
- Now they use 21” electrostatic thin-film speakers (which are built in and are only 1mm thin) and are built into the headrests, seatbacks, and headliner.
- The Physics: Since these films have no mass, I’ve found that they respond 1,000 times quicker than traditional speakers, are 90% lighter, and use far less electricity.
Performance Specs
Naturally, on all that luxury, it should still drive like a Range Rover. Here is the 2027 primary trim powertrain range, along with the incoming electrified, highly awaited version:
| Specification | P550e Plug-In Hybrid | P615 Twin-Turbo V8 |
|---|---|---|
| Engine Type | 3.0L Inline-Six + Electric Motor | 4.4L Twin-Turbocharged V8 |
| Drivetrain | All-Wheel Drive (AWD) | All-Wheel Drive (AWD) |
| Transmission | 8-speed ZF Automatic | 8-speed ZF Automatic |
| Pure EV Range | Up to 74 miles (WLTP) | N/A (Mild-Hybrid Assisted) |
| 0-100 km/h | ~5.0 seconds | 4.9 seconds |
If you want something a little more powerful and extreme, then I recommend the updated Range Rover Sport SV. It produces a massive 635 PS from the 4.4L V8. I’m excited to see how this year’s model with the new center-exit dual exhaust changes the sound from the previous years.
